It's for Henry Bravery in 1841 in Dorking.  The census ref. no. for those that can access Ancestry for the bigger picture is;  HO107/1081/bk 6/38/32

Hi Jane

I think it says "tuner" as in wood turner.

That's what I've been thinking for many years but the 'r' at the end didn't seem the same as the 'r' at the end of labourer written higher up the page.  Maybe I'm trying to make something of nothing  :-\  There was a Henry Bravery in the Dorking directories of that time registered as a turner.  We'll see if any of the others have the same thoughts :)
Thanks casalguidi,

jane

Hi Jane,

I'm with Casalguidi. There are several Tanners in the area but it doesn't really look like Tanner - my guess is Turner too.  :)

Thanks Tati.  Two votes for TURNER then, three if you include mine  ;)

I think the enumerator just got lazy towards the end of his words at times looking at the occuaptions for some of the neighbours ;)

Quite possibly, casalguidi  ;D  Bit of a thankless task being an enumerator...although I thank them VERY much 160+ years later  ;D
