Tyrone Baptisms Look up
« on: Wednesday 23 April 08 14:44 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if the BVRI has records relating to Tyrone? I am desperatly seeking a baptism in the county and wondered if this source might be able to help?

The baptism in question is that of Francis Daly (Daily, Daley etc) son of John Daly in approx (+/- 5 years) 1840. I'm unsure about location although they have popped up in the Killeeshil/Dungannon/Ballygawley areas.

Francis married a Mary Daly in 1866 and they had 3 children that I know of Mary, Anne and Catherine. If this family is ringing a bell for anyone, do let me know.

I am new to Irish research and have a lot to learn!

Looks like Francis and Mary might have had several more children. Doing a parent search on IGI brings up Patrick (1867 Cloavaddy), Francis (1868 Co.Tyrone), Mary & Anne (1870 Ireland), Catherine (1872 Ireland), Francis (1879 Killeerhill).  However, it's possible that there is more than one couple called Francis Daly and Mary Daly.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

There were 3,861 families named Daly in Ireland at the time of Griffith's Valuation.

187 of them were recorded in Co. Tyrone in 1851.
