1841 Census - Russel(l) family of Edinburgh
« on: Wednesday 23 April 08 22:01 BST (UK) »
In 1851 (Edinburgh Old Church - 33 St Mary's Wynd) James Russll is born 1798 Ireland. Wife Rose born 1796 Ireland. Son Patrick born 1848 Edinburgh. James occupation "Hawker".

In 1861 (Edinburgh Canongate - 2 Shoemakers Close) James Russel is born 1793 Ireland. Wife Rosa born 1796 Ireland. Son Robert born 1831 Edinburgh, grandson Peter born 1848 Edinburgh. James occupation "Hatter".

In later life Peter/Patrick was known to use both names, and gave his surname as Russell.

I am trying to discern who Peter/Patrick's father was. Robert or James.

I cannot find James, Rose or Robert in 1841 and I need a census expert. I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Wake - Berkshire
Druitt - London
Macnamara - London
Aubury - London
Hooker - NW Kent, Surrey
Norton - Kent/Sussex border
Corke - Kent
Hudson - Hampshire

Oh yes, thank you, I couldn't find that anywhere...it has to be them.  But with Robert missing this gets even weirder.
