Foreign, me!!

I researched a friend's tree last year.  It's English all the way back except for one Irish strand.  This friend married a man whose grandparents were Russian refugees, so she has a Russian surname.  She is currently running for election as a local councillor, and was amazed to get a call from a resident saying she wouldn't vote for someone foreign!  My friend was able to tell her that she was so English she had an ancestor who fought at Waterloo (almost true - it was her ancestor's brother).  One of the odd benefits of knowing your family history.
