William Grayson
« on: Thursday 24 April 08 17:04 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

I am trying to trace information on my gggg grandfather William Grayson born 1828 in Ireland, married to a lady called Bridget born 1821 also born in Ireland, and both died in Liverpool 1883.

I have no idea in Ireland where they were born but I have done a search on the Griffith valuation and found only 2 William Graysons, as follows:-
Grayson     William     Boconnell       Seagoe     Armagh
Grayson    William    Knockramer    Seagoe     Armagh
These are the only 2 recorded in all of the counties, so there is a good possibility that either is my William.

Would some kind person be able to advise me which parish church I could contact to enquire if they hold any records for them.

I would be very grateful for your help.

Yours in anticipation

Ginny

In Ireland a 'parish church' can be Catholic or Church of Ireland.
Griffith's Valuation lists the head of household only so your Williams Grayson may not be listed at all in it.
If the couple had any children can you get a rough idea from their births when the family might have gone to England?

Hi

Here are a list of Williams children:-

Jane Grayson born 1846 in Liverpool
William born 1856
Elizabeth born 1846

The Graysons are  Catholics.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your time.

Looks like the Graysons went to England in or before 1846 and if they were Catholic it is church records you need to find (if they still exist).
