Death Certificate Wanted
« on: Monday 28 April 08 17:59 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I am hoping there is someone who lives in Hertford as I need to find out the occupation of the witness on a certian death certificate before i purchase it.
Maria Wells possible death - either Dec Qtr 1885 Ware Herts; Mar Qtr 1894 Hatfield Herts;
Maria was my gr gr grandmother from Kirkstall Leeds;
The certificate has the name of Joseph Wells who was her husband;
I haev already requested this certificate but the girl told me the occupation does not match my request.  He was some kind of showman/ actor/ comedian/ theatre manager of a portable theatre and none of this shows.
As we all know registra's cannot tell you over the phone any information on this certificate;
If there is anyone who can go and read these certificates- All I need to know is what occupation does it give for her husband Joseph Wells and anything relative to my asks;

Also if the witness is not Joseph it could be either of maria's daughter's.  Jane Wells or Margaret (Maggie ) Denton;  Or her son George Wells; son in law Samuel Denton; Daughter in law susan Wells;
Ihope this isnt too much to ask if it is please tell me

I'm afraid the only way a death certificate can be viewed is by purchasing it.

Occupation of the Informant (if thats who you mean by 'Witness') wasnt actually required  .... so I dont know why the Register Office is being coy .... surely its the Relationship you want to know ?
