Did you know how confusing this picture is???   :o :o :-\ ;)

It must be one of the last photos of this Regt!

He has the cap badge of the Machine Gun Corps

The chap has a 1922 pattern jacket on, and the Regt was disbanded in that year!

The most confusing thing is that he is wearing spurs...Not a normal affectation for a MGC L/Cpl!!

He has one good conduct chevron (3yrs undetected crime!) but no medal ribbons from the war...He also wears breeches as opposed to SD trousers which is odd as the MGC were not mounted!

The other odd thing is the belt...It is a brace worn as a belt...Also not seen until after the war...

The womans clothes have the appearance of wartime and not 1922...the hat is broad brimmed, but could be summer wear...She might not have kept up with the fashionistas though  ;) ;)

So all in all we have a pic taken in 1922, with a chap who joined up in ?1919 and saw no wartime service...Or was home based during the war, but didn't earn his GC chevron!
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

Alexena, out of interest do you have the military history of this chap?

Hi Jenny,

Yes Jenny, I will do some checking up and let you know later. Incidentally he was married on 14 September 1918 while on leave from France but he wasn't presented with his medals at the time of his marriage.
