Carole, you've just posted the very points I was going to make. I'm also wondering what happened to the 2 Murray children that were in 1891 census.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

If William Murray age 12 the same child as in 1891 is Bella Murray age 10 in 1901 the Jane in 1891 census?

I'm getting a bit worried about Jane Matthew's age:
32 in 1891
25 in 1891
30 in 1901
Is this all the same family or are different families getting put together incorrectly?

Thank you so much for your assistance.
This looks like the family. My gramma Henrietta says her place of residence as of her marriage in 1919 is 13 Annfield Row Dundee, married at 9 Airlie Place, June 19.
There is a William Murray, my Dad visited with this family in Methil during WW2 while on leave.
We were under the impression that Jane Matthew had a sister named Bella & also Mary, maybe it was George Murray who did.
OR
maybe this Bella is actually the infant Jane Murray on the 1891 census, age matches well, & we were wrong that her name was Rebecca Jane & is Bella Jane. (not much will be found out about her, she sailed to Canada or the US, wrote home to say she was bringing her new fiance/Husband back to visit & was never heard from again, circa WW1, speculation they were aboard the Lusitania)
I don't know who John & Willamina Matthew are.
Lisa

Could the 50 yr old George Murray be George Murray's father? What I mean by that is could the Matthews' have their son-in-laws father living with them. That is if this is Janes' parents.

Hi

Have a look at the 1881 entry I posted.  That George jnr was only 8mths old

I have a feeling that you have 2 different families here

Hi Carole,
I see the Georges' are both cab drivers now. There are no entries at SP for a WalterMurray & Jane Matthew marrying & 1 for George & Jane marrying.
The only explanation I can think for children William & Jane Murray not being with Alexander & Jane Briggs is that they are with their father. This is confusing & I have to sit back & think about this for a bit.
Thanks again,
Lisa

1901 census
125 Kidston St Hutchesontown Govan Glasgow
Alexander Briggs 30 bricklayer born Dundee
Jane 30 wife born Aberdeen Aberdeenshire
Minnie Briggs daughter 6 born Dundee
Henretta Briggs daughter 4 born Dundee (my Gramma)

They all emigrated to Canada in the 1920's. I think I'm looking in Canada for Alexander & Janes marriage.

I have my grammas marriage register from Scotland year 1919. I have the dates they emigrated. I have places & addresses of where they lived. I have family "stories".

Now that you have a MC for your grandmother in 1919 , please give parents names, including mothers maiden names. Henrietta Briggs, you mentioned not being able to get the birth certificate on SP but found it under Matthews, was that Jane the mother's maiden name.

Tom
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.
