McIntyres of Mervue?

I'm looking to trace my hustband's gt.grandfather William McINTYRE born c1843.

He had settled in Liverpool, England by 1881 when the census recorded his birthplace as what appears to be in Mervue/Merive, Ireland.

Any assistance in tracking him down would be most welcome!
