I see Jenn mentioned that there is an online WW1 war record for Charled Daubeny Bateman at the National Archives of Australia website.

Well he obviously had a son Peter

The father's name is on the record, and the name Daubeny appears.

And Thomas had a son David...... Daubeny gives the clue again...... 
 and a daughter Violet......

Oh...an unusual name like Daubeny does help to make things easy......
