Plymouth Workhouse 1861
« on: Friday 02 May 08 09:10 BST (UK) »
I have George Baker b1852 and John Baker b1855. Both born in Australia. They are both in Plymouth SCHOOL Workhouse in 1861  and are Paupers. I thought if they were orphans it would say orphans and not paupers.
Can anyone look for me to see if there are any other Baker's  (male or female) in a different Plymouth Workhouse in 1861 that I could possibly use as a lead to who these boys parents were.
I do have another thread for these boys but the family we thought they belonged to are not their family.

Any help would be lovely. Many thanks.  SUE.

I've checked the census and find that the two boys are in Plymouth  UNION Workhouse.
The other workhouses in the area were at  Stoke Damerel and East Stonehouse.

Many thanks for your reply. I'll take a look around the other workhouses.
Much appreciated  SUE.
