Simon reply #17. Mine too. Some workmen lived in Preston. They used to ride on top of the loads of stone.
If a load shifted, injuries might occur.

Yes weaving too. 1911 census gt gt gf loom overlooker. His son the farmer and 3 daughters cotton spinners living at Cocker Cobbs Farm, Oswaldtwistle. Was a loom overlooker living at Stoney Knoll Farm in the Cocker Cobbs area 1921. His father, 3x gf, was farmer of 8 acres then a spinner.
