Uncle Percy's schooldays
« on: Tuesday 06 May 08 01:15 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'd appreciate if someone could sharpen/clean up this one of Uncle Percy c1925.

He's the one in the front looking none too pleased at being given the abacus.

Thanks
Ian

Nice to see them with their toys, ian. Where was it taken?
Did Uncle Percy end up as an accountant? Poor soul.
Paulene :)

Hi Paulene

It was taken at St Marys, Liverpool.  He avoided accountancy, but may have worked with numbers as a clerk in a stationery firm.
My cousin reckons they were all told to bring toys in but he didn't have any so they gave him the abacus  :'(

Cheers

Hi Ian,
You can understand why he looks like that now - they could have given him the elephant or the bear - but an abacus!
Bit like giving your child a spelling computer game, instead of the Fifa 08 he really wants!
Hope things looked up for him later.
Paulene :)
Great picture to have in your collection - but shame about poor percy - so sad :'(

Hi

Thanks very much Iria, lovely.  Good of you and Dave to take the time - I appreciate it.

Yes, things got better for him - he'd have said that he'd had a good life.

Cheers
Ian
