LAPPAGES Of Polstead
« on: Thursday 08 May 08 20:15 BST (UK) »
I am at present trying to trace the connection between the Suffolk and Essex Lappage families.
I have a John Lappage b. around 1711 in my tree who is described as 'of Stanway' (Essex) in his marriage record.  I have traced this at the Essex Records Office and he definitely has no birth record in the Stanway area at the correct time.  In fact, the very first mention of the Lappage name in the Stanway district appears to occur with this particular marriage record (November 23rd 1736 to Elizabeth Buntin).
I see that someone has posted the baptism of a John Lappage on January 6th 1711 in Polstead on IGI.  Because I recognise that this source is sometime suspect, I wonder if there is anyone who can confirm that the two Johns are, in fact, the same person. The IGI record gives his parents names as John and Ann but there is no further information.
There are only 12 miles between Stanway and Polstead but pinning down the connection between the two families is a nightmare!
Thanks for listening, Hope you can help!

Don't know if this will help, but found the following marriage on Boyds index.
