Old Postcards
« on: Sunday 11 May 08 19:55 BST (UK) »
I have several old postcards from the 1900s.. (mid).  they are from the STENT family of Havant Hampshire.

I would like to reunite them with the family...  Will attach some images if anyone is interested.

Regards

Oh thank god.  I've been trying to reply to you on the BBC site that I was advised about but I was having no luck.

The Stents are on my fathers side.  I would love to take the postcards off your hands.  What a wonderful person you are to try to find me.  Some people may have just binned them.

I've been doing my tree for a couple of years now and I'm sure these postcards will be wonderful.

Good to see you found this thread Marianne the BBC is difficult but roots is easier to join.

Pamela this is the contact from GenesReunited that I found for you that I mentioned on the BBC board

I know there are many others on there with this name in their trees so its up to you to decide on the worthy family

I posted a notice on the genes site too so you may get more replies on the BBC

Good luck with the postcards whoever gets them

Thanks Edna

I have had other replies as well, so when I have a bit of time I will try and establish ownership.

Many thanks

Pam

Should you happen to decide to give the originals to another Stent ancestor.  Would you be able to photocopy them for me?

Thanks in advance
Marianne

Hi Marianne

I have carefully looked through the postcards..  A lot are blank on the back.

I am guessing here but I think a lot of them of from their father.  They are addressed to a Mrs Frank (I think) Stent.. West End Havant.   Miss Phyllis Stent and Leslie Stent at the same address.  Some are addressed to Leslie at school  St Helens College Southsea. Leslie also has the initial D.

One or two are addressed to Manor Farm Cocking, Midhurst, Sussex.  Perhaps they are on holiday there (?)   The date range is I think because postmarks are not that easy to read  are about 1913 to 1919.

Do these ring any bells?   I could possibly send you a few initially and take it from there.?

I do live in this area so if I can be of any help please let me know.

Hi
Another option might be to send copies to interested families but take the originals to a local museum or record office then any future researchers will also have the chance to look at them.
Postcards can hold a wealth of information.   Many end up on ebay nowadays.
