Perhaps Archibald was born in Scotland but moved away before the 1861 census

I was wondering, while i wait for the certificate is there any way to search forward?

Archibald, March 31st. 1918  a Dockyard Worker is married at Saint Thomas Woolwich to Mary Louise Woodhouse in the presence of Albert James Woodhouse Dockyard Foreman and R Woodhouse. They are living at 105 Sand Street Woolwich. June 1924 they have a son Norman A.

Maud Violet, I believe her married name was Tennyson. She may have had two children  Iona R. Tennyson June 1915 Woolwich and Zella I. Tennyson March 1918 Woolwich.

Margret, it is thought she became a nun. No order or other information known.

It would probably be worthwhile putting up a new post with a link to this post here on the Scottish General board (just copy and paste the URL at the top of the page) on the London Board here on Rootschat. Hopefully people with access to more specific London resources will be able to help www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,24.0.html

I noticed that on the 1901 Census in London, Archibald is down as Andrew, I wonder if this is the name he went by? There is this death showing which I wonder if it could be him:

Deaths 2nd Qrt 1925 - Rennie, Andrew age 70 at Woolwich, Refs. 1d 1015

My other thought, whilst you are awaiting arrival of cert... ::) Have you ever tried to find Archibald Andrew (I would search under both/either name now) military records? I have no knowledge of military matters, but plenty of people here on RootsChat do www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,300.0.html

You may be lucky and find details of where he was posted (might give you further clues if the marriage proves illusive) also may if you are v. lucky, include place of birth in Scotland.

Not sure if you have enough info to pinpoint where to start looking for his records, but the military experts here on RootsChat might provide some useful pointers for you. Again, I would add a link to this post for background.

Hello again, I have received the Birth Certificate of Maude Violet Rennie. She was born 06 February 1892. Father Andrew Rennie occupation Sergeant Buffs, mother Mary Ann Rennie formerly McGann. The address of birth appears to be 21 Manor Street, Brompton

Sorry, just come across your last post...

Sadly, I'm not easily seeing a marriage for Archibald Andrew and Mary Ann even with the new info on her maiden name but that was only searching through FreeBMD. The full index for BMDs is probably the way to search for the marriage.

One question that I have, given that Archibald went by the name of Andrew on Maude's BC and the 1891/1901 censuses and we also have a likely death for him in 1925 in Woolwich under Andrew, what sources do you have that have him as Archibald Andrew?
