Sheercloon directories for 1930's??
« on: Thursday 15 May 08 11:26 BST (UK) »
Hi

Would there have been directories (ie telephone) or suchlike around the 1930's that my Whittaker family would possibly be found in?

I think they seemed to have lived in Sheercloon (Stranorlar) for many years, certainly it seems since one death in 1899 to the last that I have found in 1941.

The surname was spelt Whittaker/Whittager/Whittekar (sic).

One more question, is Milltown, Raphoe near Sheercloon please?????

Many thanks for any help.

Not sure about 1930s directories.

PRONI has some directories listed here but think only up to 1900:
http://proni.aetopia.com/scripts/WebObjects.dll/StreetDirectories

Here's a 1910 one:
www.libraryireland.com/UlsterDirectory1910/Contents.php
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The PRONI site is no longer available without a password.

As far as I'm aware it was a prototype site
