Really truly awful census transcription
« on: Tuesday 18 January 05 21:17 GMT (UK) »
We've all found them - excruciatingly awful mistranscriptions.  I can sort of understand it when the handwriting is poor, but this was actually very legible.

There is a beautiful island off the south coast of England, quite a large island.  Its name can catch people out since it is not spelt as one might think.  It prides itself on its wonders.  But I really think the locals will want to hang, draw and quarter the transcriber, indexer, and sundry checkers who actually let this island be entered into a census index as:
Isle Sh**e  :o
