If I remember correctly from my looking at the history of Bankhead near Banff in Canada it was named after a place near Banff in Scotland.

Looking at the map it is about fifteen miles west of Aberdeen and twenty five south of Banff

The one that you are looking for is a mile south of Carlisle Airport that is five miles east of Carlisle.

I have just had a quick look on OS map of the Brampton area, just a bit northeast of the town of Brampton there is a small village/hamlet called Banks and slightly further East there is a Bankshead.  All of this is on the line of Hadrian's Wall.

Could this be the place?

I have found three Bankheads in Cumbria now, two fairly close to Carlisle.  I think you need some more information to locate which you are talking about.

Try using Google maps.

Thanks David,
I'm just realising that it might be one of several options.

Bob,
was there any other hints to Bankshead? I'm a couple of miles from the Hadrians wall one if I can help.

Hello Bob,
That's very knd. Unfortunately no other clues. I was just assuming Bankhead was near KirkandrewsUponEsk, as all the others I'm researching are from that immediate area.
I suppose it  might just be somewhere that just merged into another village?
Cheers
