Deaths in Glengarry
« on: Wednesday 21 May 08 21:41 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I have found records of the deaths of Tom Hudson Deakin and Jennie Munroe Deakin on the OCFA website. They are listed under St Andrew's Presbyterian, South Lancaster, Glengarry, Ontario. Would anyone be able to assist with finding out the death dates of these people - they married in Lancaster in 1914 so the deaths must be later than that.
I would appreciate any help on how to get more information,

Many Thanks

Redcat

Hello

I don't live near this area to do a cemetery look-up and not sure if someone else does and can.

There is this publication that may have your information, if of course they died on or before 1978:

Title: St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church : Baptisms, Marriages, Deaths, 1884-1978 South Lancaster, Ontario, Glengarry County
Author: Alex W. Fraser, Rhoda P. Ross
Publish Date:  January 2005
ISBN-10:  0921307888
ISBN-13:  9780921307884

You could possibly purchase it or borrow it on interlibrary loan. Locations can be found on WorldCat http://www.worldcat.org/advancedsearch

or contact the church St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, South Lancaster, Ontario, telephone 613-347-2206

Hello Redcat,

If you log onto CornwallRoots.com you will find the headstone for Tom and Jennie.

I found the site worked best if you just key in the first three letters of the surname and check off which cemetery

and town you require.

For fellow posters watching this listing Tom Hudson Deacon born Dec 10 1884 died Jan 17 1922. Jennie Munroe

1886-1976

This is a great site . Have used it many times myself. I think it is not well known .

Good luck from Alberta

Hi again Redcat,

When you check CornwallRoots.com  go to Death Notices and you will find Jennie.

Jennie is listed under Deakin Janet S Munroe.

Nothing found for  Tom.

Hi Redcat,

In order to use cornwallroots.com  you can access it if you go through Stormont County Genweb

Cemetery Records, Obituaries and Tombstones.

I tried using www.cornwallroots.com but could not pull it up so I went back to the above website and  found I could access it  that way.

Sorry if this caused problems.

It is a great site.

Regards from sunny Alberta

Sorry for the delay in replying but I always get caught by the time difference Canada with England. It is really wet and grey today but the garden was like a desert so I don't mind particularly when I get such great help from people.

Thankyou Linda and Lilybel. I have been on the Cornwallroots site and found the tombstone and obit, it really is a good site and I certainly wouldn't have found it without your assistance.

I am curious as to why Tom died young as apart from his parents the family tend to be very long lived. If I wanted to get more details I presume I would have to get a copy death certificate so I wondered if you could tell me how would I go about it?

Thanks again

Hi Red,

His death would be publicly available (you don't have to order through the gov't).  It should be on ancestry as all deaths in ONtario up to 1934 are on there, but I can't find his, even just searching 1922??

Still looking......
