Snowdon/Hitchin Essex
« on: Tuesday 06 April 04 16:17 BST (UK) »
Hi I am looking for any information on Henry Snowdon (or Snowden) born 1829 in essex or his wife Louisa Hitchen born 1829 also in Essex. They were married on the 30th July 1854.
They had a daughter Harriet Louisa Snowdon born 30th September 1858 in Brightlingsea, Essex.
She married James Patterson (or McDowall) from Northern Ireland.

Any information would be great.

Cheers

James

Did you know that the name Snowdon comes from the North of England,  something to do with the snow laying long on the hills.
Its enough to make one shiver.
My Snowdon's originated in Northumberland / Durham, although they migrated south in the 1930s so no use to you I'm afraid

I've looked at the 1851 Colchester index (which includes Lexden) but no trace of any SNOWDONs/SNOWDENs nor of Louise Hitchen.
