Private Alfred Bowen was KIA 1917 whilst serving with the RWF.  Details on SDGW born Brithdir, Glamorgan, enlisted Hereford, lived Knucklas.

Can someone please check if he is on the 1901C for Herefordshire.

Thanks in advance
Roy

Do you have any other details about Alfred to help narrow the search?

3 Alfred Bowen in Herefordshire 1901 but none born Glamorgan - age range 14 - 24 years

3 in Glamorgan 1901 (with no middle name), ages 6 - 26 years, one in Pontypridd and two in Swansea.

My Welsh geography poor - where is Brithdir?

without more details hard to say if any are correct. If you want full details of each please ask

Hi Netti
No other info I'm afraid, other than what is on the SDGW.  For your interest, there is more than one Brithdir.  One in North Wales and the village I am interested in, is in the Rhymney Valley, about 20 miles north of Caerphilly.

Thanks for trying
Best regards
Roy

Hi Roy

I have looked on google maps for Brithdir now, is it the one near New Tredegar?

If so, I think it comes under the Bedwelty registration district? (Rhymney does)

There is a birth for Alfred Bowen registered there in 1908. Perhaps this is your man?

Hi Netti

First of all let me say a big thank you for your efforts.  I don't have easy access to ancestry and would be very interested in the service record and anyother info on him.

Thanks
Roy
