Glamorgan 1851 William Thomas
« on: Wednesday 19 January 05 22:15 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find an elusive husband in 1851. Someone kindly found his wife and children living with her parents in Devon but the husband wasn't there. As i know, thanks to Welsh Jen, that the whole family were in Cardiff by 1861 I wonder if Dad went on ahead to work.
William Thomas born c1820 Chepstow Monmouth.
Any help much appreciated

Louise :)

Hello again  :D

This is the only entry for a Monmouthshire born William Thomas in the correct timeframe. I can't remember the wife's name from the previous look up but the name Sophia is familiar to me ??? :

Thanks very much for looking Jen but I don't think it's him much I'd love to have someone living at Druids Circle. I think I'll have to accept that he wasn't in Glamorgan or Devon and keep on digging for clues. By 1861 he was shipbuilding at Cardiff Docks. I suppose I should try Monmouth to see if he was with family in 1851.
Thanks again for your time and continued help.

Your answer may be in your question! You mention in 1861 he was working in Cardiff docks ~ Shipbuilding. Do you think it possible that he was working in this capacity around 1851 and thus missed enumeration due to travelling?

I think you're probably right. I was kind of pleased that he wasn't with his wife and children as I thought maybe he could be found with other relatives that I don't know of yet but it's seeming increasingly likely that he was travelling.
Thanks again.
