Can you read this ???
« on: Wednesday 28 May 08 20:10 BST (UK) »
Hello all.

I was lucky enough to get some info yesterday regarding my family, but on one of the census's there is some writing I cannot read and wondered if any of you can help decipher this please.

It's seems to be,   "something off something farm", what do you think..............

Hiya FH

I think it might say 'millers off hand'

The one on the line below looks like 'farrier'

Looks to me like,
                                   Millers off Hand
                                          Farm.

I'm assuming the words in question are in the column describing how many employees an employer has. Could the words 'off hand' be used in the sense 'can't be bothered to count exactly but approximately'

Hi F.H.

Would it be possible to give us the census reference please?

I wondered if this was an address or an occupation. The number in front is confusing me .. because it looks like an address .. ?

Kind regards,

Pels.  :-\

If Clincher is correct, then 75 Millers off hand, would make sense.
