Thankyou Heywood for all your help

Yes the Connolly's come from Kilmaine.

On the marriage certificate his fathers name is also given as Patrick and his job is listed as Farmer's Labourer which is the same exact job title that is given for Thomas Connolly the bride's father.

If it is indeed Ballyhouness how would it come to be 10 years later on the 1901 census that he lists his birthplace as Tuone?

I don't know - but what I was meaning was that if he was born outside Ballyhaunis but within the larger area of Tuam - he may have put that down later. They are about 20 miles apart.
If you look at http://www.failteromhat.com/ and then Griffiths Valuation you can see that there are lots of Loughlins and McLoughlins in Galway and Mayo so it is difficult for you.

http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/ - Mayo and Galway are fully complete.

best wishes
heywood

Yes that does seem the most likely reason for the two different place names.

Thankyou everyone i think now i may have narrowed it down to a much smaller area but like you say heywood so many Loughlin's, McLoughlin's and O'Loughlin's its just the start.

All i have is his birth (1861) his fathers name (also Patrick) and according to family a brother Thomas who left Ireland for America.

Look like a good reason to visit Ireland again one day
