What have you on the Makepeace's there in Frosterley--the place with the nifty marble.

Hello Janis. The stone is in a very poor condition and I don't think it will be earlier enough for you.
Here is what can be read:-

In loving memory of William, beloved husband of Elizabeth Makepeace, died 23/November/1947 aged 86 years.
The other name on the stone is Joseph Wilfred but no dates.

Thanks anyway--My Makepeace's if they did not emigrate to the US lived in Pelton in the 1900's.  I am always hopefull to find my Ruth and Peter Makepeace's final resting spot--or just when they died would be a start.

Hello John. Here they are (the gravestones before the 1950's)


In loving memory of Joseph the beloved husband of Mary Ann Allison, late of Chatterley Farm,Wolsingham,died April/10/1918 age 67 years.
Also the above Mary Ann Allison, died January7/1925 age 78 years.

In loving memory of Mary Hannah Allison, Distr?????? (at a guess district nurse) died 24/September/1944 age 51 years.

In loving memory of Hannah Thompson, who died August/20/1924 age 69 years.

The Hannah in my family was born 20 years earlier than the last Hannah shown.

The Allison family link is also earlier.
