I sent an email to the Barnsley library last night. No reply yet. But the history society, I'll give them a go. You never know your luck.

Hello deadants,

I am from Barnsley and the photos ARE of the same building, on the way down Shambles Street towards the Town End Roundabout.

Thanks Russell,
I showed it to my cousin who was in Barnsley last year, she was thrilled to see  this photo. She said the building on the hill is a church. I thought  it might  have been the Clarkson Brewery. So mayby you  could tell me if the Church is still there and what the churches name is.  It might  have  figured in my GG Grandparents lives.

Hello again,

The building is now a theatre called The Lamproom.  It used to be something to do with Barnsley Scouts (Boy's club - that is it!) or something like that.  I will try to find out if it was a church at some point, but I do not think so.

Russell
