Methodists in Armagh
« on: Friday 13 June 08 03:14 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Annie Ferguson, born 1866 approx, and emigrated to US 1885 approx.  She was likely to have been Methodist.  I have only my mother's recollections that she spoke about County Armagh.  Any leads would be appreciated

Ferguson, Atkinson, Jackson, Tinsley, Norris, Fleming

Civil registration of births began 1864 (became compulsory 1870) so there's a chance that Annie might have a birth certificate. Many, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882 are in IGI but you would really need the names of her parents to verify that any birth found is the correct Annie Ferguson.

If you don't know the names of Annie's parents it's possible that U.S. marriage or death certificate might have the details.

One you get a birth certificate you will then have the name of a townland to search for the family in Irish records.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you much for the search strategy.  I think I can get the marriage and death certificates locally.  Will start there.
