1851 Lookup - William Forsyth

Hi,
I am looking for William Forsyth (possibly born in Liverpool around 1834). I have him on the 1881 census in Liverpool area married to Nancy. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi Paul,

If I have the correct William (occupation Ironfounder) he was actually born Ireland in the 1881 census and on the 1871 census it states he was 32 and born Portadown, Ireland.  Struggling to find him on the 1861 or 51 census.  There is one in Toxteth Park who was a House Joiner on the 1861 but...

If you need the 1871 census let me know.

Not sure if this data fits in, however I have William as Iron moulder in 1891. Would be worth a look at the 1871 info.

Hi Paul,

Had to ask as his wife appears to be Mary on the 1871 census.       Definitely the same family though.

Mary (as is), Wife, Mar, 28, Stockton on Tees, Durham
William F?, Son, 6, Scholar, Liverpool

could it be that one of the census details has been mis-transcribed. When written Nancy could look like Mary???

Hi Paul.

Strongly suspect the 1881 census is at fault.  She is Mary on the 1871 and 1891 census.  When looking at the 1881 census I would say it starts with an M not N and looks like Mauy.

Totally agree. This would explain naming of daughter Mary Jane
