Is this Sarah and Thomas in Cook in 1900 census?
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MS7V-S87
It says two children Adelaide L and Thomas F, both children born after the marriage.

There is a passenger record for a Amanda and Sarah Scanlan arriving New York 1890
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MS7V-S87
and births of
Sarah Agnes Scanlan 1864
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1864/03591/2323936.pdf
and Amanda Scanlan 1869
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/supp_births/2341383x.pdf
parents John Scanlan and Louisa Teskey

Does any of this fit with what you know about Sarah?

Sinann- Hi yes it appears that Sarah and Thomas Scanlan cook county mich. is mostly correct...but they had 2 children after date of marriage, Charles  and Adelaide...The oldest son was on the ship coming over. Adelaide (Married Frank (Blohm) who is my Grandmother, Uncle Charlie and his wife Helen and Uncle Thomas whom everyone called Uncle Timmy....I knew them well. so the mystery continues about Uncle Tim aka Thomas.

It looks like Charles wasn't born until about 1903 so he wouldn't be on the 1900 Census
1910 Census Michigan, all 3 children born Illinois.

Note this census says Sarah had 4 children with 3 still living.
1920 Census Michigan. Both Thomas and Charles born Illinois

What year did Adelaide marry Frank?

Did you check the marriage cert of Sarah and Thomas, is she listed as a widow? What name is given for her father? and mother if she is listed, who are the witnesses?
You said Thomas and Sarah met on the boat? What boat when?
Also that the son Thomas Eldridge arrived in America with Sarah, what ship did they arrive on, what year? Can you post links to any of these records?

So far all I can find is that Sarah had 3 children with her husband Thomas M Johnston after she arrived in America and after her marriage.
Adelaide, Thomas and Charles.
