Thank you for all the above, I thought I had replied to you - but obviously not - so sorry and thank you. Hoping that the James you found bapt 1811 is my James. Its very possible, as the year given in the censu is abt 1814.  I am going to try and track the other siblings down in the census and see what I can find.

Simon Middleton was baptised in Somerton Oxfordshire on 12 March 1780 and moved to Thenford.  James was baptised 1 Sept 1811.  Can't see an Edward at present.  Simon did have a brother Edward born in Thenford 15 Oct 1790.

Thank you for finding this for me, I would never have thought of looking in Oxfordshire for Simon and his family - perhaps this will make his family easier to trace further back.

I have a James Middleton, son of Simon Middleton Baptised 1st Sept 1811 inl Thenford. Son of Simon Middleton and Mary (Weed)  Simon was actually born in Sommerton Oxfordshire but moved with his parents to Thenford.  Mary was born in Thorpe Mandeville.  Hope this is of help
