Frances Osman - Overton

Hi,

I'm trying to find the marriage of George Alder and Frances/Fanny Osman.

He was born c1799 in Berkshire, and I can follow his family!!

She was born in Overton Hampshire, circa 1811.

To my knowledge their first child, Jane, was born in 1829 in Whitchurch.

At present I can find no trace of her baptism or marriage, and am desperately hoping someone on the Hampshire board may be able to help.

George Alder married Frances Osman 29 Sep 1827 in Overton.

Er - only 14 when she married?  Is that likely?  (I know it was legal, but that's not my point.)  Perhaps a late baptism.

Hi Nell -  yes, I thought of that too     That was the only bap. I could find - (FHonLine) and I realised it was a tad close - 16 when Jane born. I did say - possible ?

Many thanks for that, it's definately the right marriage. What a pity the father's names didn't appear back then.

As for her age - Blimey, was it really legal? I have a daughter nearly the same age, and I really can't imagine it!!!!!!

Frances/Fanny consistently gives her birth year and place of birth as 1811 throughout the census. What do you think?

Would be very interested to hear you thoughts, and also, before I forget, were ther any other children born to George and Frances Alder between their marriage (1827) and Jane's baptism (1829)?
