This is all fantastic information. - thank you
I asked my mum about this, and she has vague recollections of Caerhun Hall, and stories of some relation losing all there money to gambling - I wonder of this was a Griffiths at Caerhun - adds some colour to the history! :)

Thanks once again for all the help...

They seem a very interesting family and I'm sure I saw somewhere that they have been at Caerhun Hall since the 1600s, they're in the pedigrees of Caernarvonshire I think, so hopefully you can confirm this is the correct family with one or two certificates. Hope you'll keep us updated when you find out.

Good luck

Thanks for all the help doing the tracing of some of my relations.
I've just received some birth / marriage certificates that do confirm the searches that you have done.
In addition, the ancestry of Hugh Davies Griffiths (father of Edward Stanley Griffith) is documented on oneworld,
which has his family line going back to George Griffith in 1542!
I've detailed the certificates below.

Edward Stanley D GRIFFITH (born 1855)

BIRTH CERTIFICATE
Born 2 May 1855, Father - Hugh Davies Griffith, mother Georgina Davies Griffith,
formerly Morgan. Fathers occupation given as Gentleman. Registered 9 June 1855.

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
Married on July 18th 1877, in Parish Church, Caerhurn. Edward Stanley Griffith
(amended on certificate to Edward Stanley Davies Griffith), age 22, married Elizabeth Jones.
ESD Griffith occupation noted as Gentleman, living at Caerhurn - his fathers name noted as Hugh Davies Griffith
(Gentleman). Elizabeth Jones living at Tynyprols (sp?), fathers name Robert Jones, occupation farmer.
Witnesses at the wedding were David Hughes and Mary Jones (Elizabeths sister)

Edward Walter GRIFFITH (born 1880)

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
Married 21 Oct 1908 St Margaret Church, Chester - Bucklow, Cheshire
Robert Llewyn Griffith and Bethsheba Jane Hawkins both witnesses on the Marriage Certificate.
Edward Stanley Griffith, Engine fireman, noted as father.
Issac john Hawkins noted as the other father.
Edward Walter Griffiths noted as living at Oakleigh Park Road, Hale - Selina noted as living at Allandale, Bradgate Road, Altrincham

Thanks for the update!  :) So I wonder if that means Edward Stanley is the one your mum is talking about that lost his fortune gambling (going from Gentleman on his own marriage cert to Engine Fireman on his son's marriage cert). Not much work left to do on that particular branch then as its all done for you, interesting family to have in your tree  :)

Let us know if you want any of the family on earlier censuses

Good Luck

Hey there, just read all the msgs and is very interesting. Edward Stanley is my great great uncle, brother of Llewellyn Rhun Davies- Griffith who married Georgina Hull in 1880 I think. I've researched a lot of the Welsh lineage and am very interested in anyone from the Davies- Griffith line. My great grandfather is William Notely. This line of the family is living in Australia. Llewellyn Rhun is from the second family of Hugh Davies -Griffith b.1798 d.1877 with whom he had with Georgina Morgan. His first wife was Hester Thomas , third wife is somewhere in my files.

Would love to hear from anyone, thanks
