1901 census - help needed
« on: Friday 20 June 08 20:57 BST (UK) »
I've got a bit of a problem.

I am trying to find a William McNellis (variations are Minellis, Manellis, McNeillis, etc) b. 1878 on the 1901 census.  He should be an Iron Dresser by profession.  He is married, but not with his wife.  I have found one contender age 25 with a mother, Mary b. Ireland, and wife, also Mary - but this is not the correct William.  Can anybody see the Iron Dresser?

My problem is this.  In 1900 William marries Christina, and I can find her with their children Alexina and Mary on the 1901, and Christina is the head of the household and married.  But no William at home.  In 1905 Christina marries again and has more children - citing a status of Spinster.  BUT, William doesn't die until 1916.

So, as you can imagine, I would love to find William on the 1901, but so far I can't.  Can anybody help on this?

Regards

KA

One possibility , although the occupation doesn't match,

the 1901 census for england has in  Seaton Delavel ,Northumberland  a 38 yr old William McNellis listed as a boarder in the home of Thomas Humble.
