Carandy from Cratler - Solved! ... Carmody from Cratloe
« on: Wednesday 25 June 08 10:21 BST (UK) »
I have a certificate for a marriage in Australia in 1855. The illiterate bride's parents were Daniel Hickey and Mary "Carandy" and she was born in "Cratler" County Clare.
I presume they were written down phonetically. Does anyone have any ideas on what she would have meant with Carandy and Cratler?
