Thanks guys, you are wonderful, sorry I got a bit muddled with where to post but think it is sorted now!

Thanks for the links, I took a look at CWGC and I'm sure it's him listed as C Turner, I have a lovely photo of him in uniform and it shows Somerset badges and he has 3 stripes which I guess is a Lance Serjeant, I had no idea where he was killed so this is just great...

can you clarify source SDGW pls...

many thanks to you all.. :-*  :-*  :-*

Hi Denise
Yes SDGW-Soldiers Died In Great War -was published first in 1921 by HMSO it has its mistakes etc and assumed the war stopped in Nov1918 when there were still actions been fought in Russia etc  so some men are off it.
Its now on a cdrom database so searchable and also available payper view on some sites.
If you ever need anything looking up post on rootschat im sure youll get answers.

Surname T Service Records online at Ancestry arent published yet(sometime this year) he may have a record in there.

Heres his Medal Card...Awarded the TF War medal not many awarded so would have been a pre war Territorial Soldier.

Thanks Ady, this is far more than I ever expected to learn about my great uncle..... it's great, I wonder what happened to his medals... I see Ancestry have a 14day free trial, I will give it a go...  :D

Is it possible to trace soldiers who were not killed?
