The later children were Davids,
But do you have the certs saying his name was David? I was hoping one or more of them might say Thomas  :-\

Was his death registered as David too?

If they were 2 different men I really wonder where he's hiding before 1901!

Another missing jigsaw piece ...

Five THORP(E)s registered in Wrexham 1861-71 ... no David.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Also, up until 1891, census show 3 Thomas Thorpe born 1865 +/-2 Uppingham - one of them disappears when David appears ...

Hi, I can definitely tell you that Thomas Thorpe and David Thorpe are the same. He was married to Margaret Ellen White, mother Ellen White. There were other siblings as well as the ones you mentioned, one was my Father David Thorpe. I dont know why my grandad gave different birth places on different censuses and I believe that Ellen White was born in Ireland although on one of the census she says born in Salford. I must be related to your Wife if he was her Grandad as well. My grandmother Margaret lived with us after grandad died until her death. I dont know if you have resolved your queries or if this will be of any help.  Rene C.

Hi, I am also tracing the Thorpe family from Newcastle Staffs, I have been able to work out that Thomas Thorpe & David Thorpe are one and the same person, he is my great granddad, my granddad was Thomas.  This is where we have hit a snag in our searches for both David & his wife Margaret. I have got a marriage certificate for David & Margaret but cannot trace where to obtain Margaret or Davids birth certs.  If you can provide any further information on either of these I would appreciate it.
Thanks

My Mother was Eva Thorpe and was a descendant of David Thomas Thorpe and Margaret Thorpe (White) this is what I have so far.
I have copies of the following, Marriage Certificate for Thomas Thorpe and Margaret White 24th July 1890, showing his father as James Thorpe, Pedlar (deceased), her father was also James, Boiler maker.
they lived at No 6-7 Lower Green Newcastle.
Birth certificate for James Thomas (my Grandfather) born 4th December1890 at 64 Nantwich Road Monks Coppenhall.
Birth certificate for Mary Ann 1st August 1893 at 1 School Yard Lower Green Newcastle.
If you can help me I am trying to get more information on David Thomas Thorpe, Margaret White and Ellen White.
Thanks Graham.
