Dolgelly - Monmouth??

Hi all,

I received a death cert yesterday wich read -

REGISTRATION DISTRICT - DOLGELLY

Death in the sub-district of Barmouth in the county of Monmouth.

Now, my geography is poor but surely Monmouth and Merioneth are opposite ends of Wales?
Is this just a mistake on the certificate and is it likely to be a mistake made on the original cert or just on the copy that was made when i ordered?

It is to be hoped that the local registrar who made the original entry would know better   

Where was your copy of the certificate issued? Have you called them for confirmation of the details?

Very odd. Barmouth's in Merionethshire, Dollgelly is in Merionethshire.

What is the address on the certificate?

I got the certificate from the GRO.

It is the death cert of a rellie who was executed at Dolgelly Gaol - so the address on the cert is "at the county gaol of Merionethshire at Dolgelly"
