Hello Nick

I just stumbled on your message. Mary Wiles born in Upwell about 1755 was my ggggg grandmother so we may have a common ancestor? Mary married William Watton (Whatten) a farmer, in St Peter's Upwell on  21 May 1771. One of the witnesses was William Wiles, maybe her father?

I'm afraid I can't tell you much more because I haven't researched the Wiles family from that part of Cambs/Norfolk yet.

A quick search of the Cambs Family History Society online 1841 census produces several members of the Wiles family in and around Wisbeach so you shouldn't have much trouble finding ancestors for Amelia.

Regards

Paul

Hello all

I'm looking for any information on my g grandmother Amelia Wiles.  She was born in Outwell on the Cambs/Norfolk border c.1877 and married Frederick Green-that's about all I know!

Hopefully some of you learned people will be able to point me in the right direction.  Any info/photos would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Nick

Hello Paul

Thanks for your reply.

I haven't managed to get back that far yet.  The furthest I have is a William Wiles b1780 (maybe a son to the William you mention?) who married an Elizabeth from Crowland, Lincs.

Their son John b1819, a miller, was my Amelia's grandfather.  Any of that sound familiar?
I think it is very likely we have a connection, please keep me posted on your progress and I will do likewise.

Best regards

Nick
