Franklin, Frankling, Frankland My head hurts
« on: Thursday 26 June 08 01:10 BST (UK) »
8)I was born Franklin my father was born Franklin my grandfather was born Arthur Ambrose Frankling b 28/5/1888 in Hackney his father was born as Samuel Arthur Frankland b1862 Leeds, Yorkshire. He is Franklin on Arthur’s Marriage cert (now I’m really confused) I’ve sent for a birth cert to try and confirm that this is my G/Grandfather but if it’s not then I have hit a brickwall. Also I can’t seem to trace my G/G/Grandfather his wife was Margaret b1832 in Ireland (named as a Franklin) but lived in Leeds in 1871 census but I can’t seem to find out her maiden name or my G/G/G’s name or where or when they were married. Has anyone any ideas as to how I can progress if the ordered birth cert is not my G/G/G?
I’ve tried trawling the BMD using Franklin, Frankling, Frankland with no success. :'(

The 1871 has a son called Ambrose b 1855 Leeds but if you check the 1861 census, he is entered as Ambrose Murphy

1861 census

Margaret Frankland 32 b Ireland - married
Ambrose Murphy son 6 b Leeds
Catherine Frankland 1 b Leeds

If you look on freebmd there is a marriage as follows between Samuel Frankland and Margaret Murphy

September qtr 1858 Leeds Vol 9B Page 278

It's the wig that's losing it's hair!
