I'm looking for a marriage for William Robertson and Janet Walker. This couple had 9 children in Airdrie between 1799 and 1816 (I have their details). William was a steam vessel engine keeper. It may be that they married in Janet's parish, if she was from outside Airdrie, but I haven't found any sign of a marriage on SP. The only one turning up on the IGI is in Fife, but that seems unlikely as it is around 1801, and the children all seem to be born in Airdrie, so I'd imagine a marriage somewhere in that area.

Hello Janet, I am interested in William Robertson and Janet Walker - my 6x Great-Grandparents!

Just yesterday, after years of searching, I received an extract of the birth record of my 5x Great-Grandfather James Robertson on 14th June 1801 at Raughboag (now Roughrigg) in the Parish of New Monkland in the County of Lanark!

I know James had sailed out to Tasmania (it was Van Diemen's Land back then) somewhere between 1801 and 1832 when his son David was born in New Norfolk.

Really keen to learn more about my Scottish roots!

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
