SAVAGE Family
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 21:03 BST (UK) »
Hi, i'm looking for any relations of the savage family.  My great grandfather was jacob Savage from wells, Wookie  somerset.  He later moved to Mountain Ash in  South Wales to work in the coal miners.  Would be grateful for any help tracing this family.

Hi,  I am researching the Salvage/Salvidge family from Wookey Hole in Somerset and came upon your posts.

I have a marriage certificate for Eliza Salvage and John Parker - married 1st July 1844 at the parish church in Wookey.  John Parker and his father (also John) were both paper makers, but what made me  post was that Eliza's parent is not her father, but her mother Sarah Salvage.

So I am wondering whether Eliza (aged abt 20 in 1841) is the older sister of Ann, Jacob, Thomas, Matilda et al...

Looking at the 1841 Census on Ancestry on page 7 I see Sarah Salvage and her family living at Hurst Batch and on the next page is the record I found for Eliza Salvage.   Eliza Salvage (age 20) is living at Wookey Hole with Elizabeth Salvage (50) of independent means, William (18) - ag lab, John (15) and Robert (12).   Should I attach any significance to the fact she is below the boys and so maybe their cousin rather than sister?

Hi,
Browsing the Wookey baptism records, I found the following baptisms
7 Nov 1819 for Eliza Savidge daughter of Jacob and Sarah of Wookey Hole Father is a labourer.
14 Sept 1821, James baseborn son of Sarah Savidge a widow, of Wookey.

Just searching to see if I can see the burial for Jacob but no obvious one in Wookey so far.

Added: It may be two different Sarah’s
