Thanks for all your time chatters.
I must have been having a Seniors Moment with the date of the wedding.  Yes, indeed, that is the right one in 1899. I was getting mixed up with the 1901 Census I was looking up that shows John's mother a widow with three children still at home.  I bet he wasn't popular taking off like that.  According to family tales it was a spur of the moment decision when Margaret's family decided to emigrate.
Puzzling that John does not show up on any passenger lists.  That one on the Woolooomooloo sounds promising for Margaret and her mother.
Very much appreciated,
Cheers,
Dot

The details of Nell and Maggie were transcribed from the image of the passenger record...not just the index.

John Thomas HEDGES died 10 February 1951, aged 72 years. Margaret Elizabeth HEDGES died 13 September 1960, aged 82 years. Both are buried in Fremantle Cemetery, Section MON B4, Gravesite 0176.

At the time of their deaths, John lived in Fremantle while Margaret lived in Nedlands (a suburb of Perth).

I sincerely hope this add to your research.

Apologies ozdot, I should have checked your location - PERTH! Of course you know where Nedlands is and you may already have the burial data.

Never apologize for giving info  :D........All information is good info even if the the person posting the query has it  ;D......in this business never assume that the person questioning has that bit of the puzzle ........just an observation from experience  :P :P :P :P Sometimes just reminding the person of the info reminds them of something they forgot and then they can go off in a new tangent of discovery.

mab...being a busy body  :P

Thanks to both For the Family and Q98.
You are right Family, sometimes the smallest thing can jog one's memory.
Q98, yes I live in Victoria Park and do have all the details you found for me.  Thank you anyway.  John T Hedges was my grandfather.
I am having a devil of a time finding anything further back than his parents.  A bit of a mystery.
But we Rootschatters keep plugging away.
Kind regards,
Dot.

Look at that. I was about to suggest a request to check Census but SKS has already obliged.

Dot,  http://www.raogk.org/listing.htm  lists UK volunteers for Random Acts Of Genealogical Kindness. Could be worth a try.

No need to do that...just ask here or post to the appropriate rootschat board...that's what we are about.... ;D ;D

Cheers

Edit  Q98....May I suggest you have a browse around rootschat and look at the many boards to see what is available.  Many of the OZ rootschatters have access [as I do] to census and bdm info available...plus of course the wonderful free bdm....and much more
