Ayr Advertiser - Can Anyone Help?
« on: Monday 30 June 08 10:49 BST (UK) »
I've found a couple of references to the Ayr Advertiser between 1816-1846 and wondered if anyone can tell me if it is possible to request a lookup for these.

Two of the references are, I presume, obituaries - for Janet Boyd/Skelly who died on 8 Aug 1846 at Underry Bank, Fairlie and for her husband John Skelly Jnr, farmer in Laigh Monktonhill who died 12 Dec 1816.  There is another reference to the Ayr Advertiser on 21 Jun 1838 for this family, but I'm not sure what it relates to.

I'm trying to find who John's father was - I have one contact who suggests his father was Robert, but the fact that he's been described as "John Skelly Jnr" would make me think his father was also called John  ???

Thanks for your help.

Just to let you know that some very helpful people at the Baird Institute and the South Ayrshire Library Services have helped me with the newspaper references  :).
