1901 Census for Co. Offaly
« on: Tuesday 01 July 08 10:38 BST (UK) »
Hi ,

Can anyone tell me if there is a website for the 1901 census for Co. Offaly .

I had contacted the Offaly Historical Society and they informed me that my Francis O'Neill family is listed on the census but they want me to pay 150 Euro for the details .

I was wondering if it was online anywhere or should I pay for the details from them .

Also , I am searching for a book called "Killeigh and Geashill "  by John Kearney it is out of print and on the back cover is an O'Neill .

Thanks,
Megan

Not sure if there is something online (someone here is bound to know) but it you know the place in Co. Offaly you can order the microfilm from your local LDS library for a small fee to be viewed there. You can check their catalogue at www.familysearch.org.

There are lots of places to find books. Are you actually wanting a copy of the book or just the information? If you want the book try a search engine like Google Books or e-bay (there are others but I can't remember the sites). If it's just the information try contacting the library in that area that has the local records (perhaps not the local library which might only be a small building with a limited collection) and ask if they can photocopy the information you want (might be a small fee for this).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks again !!

I think I would like a copy of the book , because I am told that it has some information about my O'Neills in it . Plus some pictures . I will try ebay and other sites. I just wanted to put it out there on this site just in case someone wanted to part with theirs or copy it for me . For a fee of course .

The place for the census would be Killeigh , Tullamore area .

Francis O'Neill would be listed as a Coachman , probably retired , and some of his 7 children should be listed with him .
