Archibald was still alive at the 1891 census, but unlike the 1881 details earlier, I can't find the equivalent record on Scotlands people - have tried both surname spellings listed below and a few variations - no luck!

(At 1891 the children are as given in 1881, with Clackmannan as birthplace and Archibald's wife is "born at Blackford", so I think this must be your family?)

Oh yes, Monica - that's brilliant - "McN" must be for "MacNiven?

The 'McN' is as showing on the index for Archibald. You would think it stood for McNiven...but as always, you can't be certain until you look at the actual cert...but it does look likely  :)

I downloaded the death certificate for Archibald McNiven Breingan who died 15 Dec 1912 but this is strange as it states his parents were Andrew Breingan and Annie McNiven, I have his parents as William Braynion and Margaret McNiven. Also I have Elizabeth Millers death certificate which she died August 25 1905 Tulliallan.

I am not sure what is right.

Thanks again to everyone that has helped.

It would seem that the person who reported Archibald's death has probably got confused with his parents' names. You have his OPR birth entry to William and Margaret. His childrens' names include the use of parents' names as middle names which support William and Margaret as parents. He also shows in 1851 with these parents.

You could also look at his 1867 marriage cert in Blackford, where he himself would have given the names of his parents for the register.

I am looking for DOD for a Archibald McNiven Braynion born 1844 Muthill and his wife Elizabeth Miller born around 1844 and were married  April 25 1867 Perth. Any help would be appreciated.

Ann
I'm only a week or two into Breingan research but the Archibald McN Breingan I have found in the 1901 Census lived in High Street, Dollar and was born in Tulliallan abt 1849. His parents seem to have been William Breingan b.abt 1868 in Braco and Minnie J. b. abt 1869 in Torryburn, Fifeshire.
The Archibald Breingan (no McN) b. abt 1845 in Muthill, lived in Bank Street, Tulliallan in 1891 and Kilbachie Street in 1901 with his wife Elizabeth Miller.

Perhaps you already know this in which case I apologise for the repetition.
