James Michael Spencer

I am looking for information on James Michael Spencer born 1826
I think his father was James I know that he came to Australia and he married in 1850 not sure if he was a convict or freeman, but he had a lot to do with the andcestry of the Snowy Mountains Pioneers  any information would be gladley appreciated.

Hello Julie,

Three items are required when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish.
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as your ancestors were born prior to the introduction of Civil Registration in Ireland. This happened in 1864. The marriages of Non Catholic were registered from 1845 onwards.

hi julie, the name spencer doesnt seem to be a common name in armagh but i found some;
 david spencer married mary jane tweedy 6 june 1847 in mullaghbrack c of i armagh;
  anne spencer married edward hyde 13 march 1851 drumcree c of i portadown;
  james spencer married anne buckingham 14 march 1857 armagh c of i;
  goerge percival spencer married helena letitia mcconnell 20 july 1910 armagh third presbyterian church.
 i also found 3 brothers who attended the royal school armagh; wilfred john,robert henry,fredrick william september 1916. there father was william r. spencer from the manor loughgall co. armagh.

If James Michael Spencer was married in Australia does the certificate give any more detail like birthplace, parents' names, etc.? What about his death certificate?
