Jane Swan of Cambridge
« on: Thursday 03 July 08 10:39 BST (UK) »
I am trying to help a friend link her tree to the right Swan family in Cambs.

I have, from the Cambs FHS baptism database, the baptism of 6 children to William G Swan and Susanna (probably nee Collett) in St Botolph, Cambridge. These include Jane H Swan, baptised in 1814.

Jane Harriet Swan married Robert White, a grocer, before 1841. The marriage could have occurred in one of the Cambridge parishes, possibly St Botolphs, or could concievably have been in St Ives, Huntingdonshire

In census returns from 1841 to 1861 Jane and Robert are living with their family in St Ives, Huntingdonshire. Jane's birthplace is given as Cambridge and her age in 1851 is 37.  A birth certificate for her eldest son Lilly born in qe Mar 1838 in St Ives confirms his mother as Jane White formerly Swan.

What I hope is that SKS can find the marriage of Jane Harriet Swan and Robert White, and that the record will show the name of her father.

Any help gratefully received.

Hi Wendy,
I looked through Cambridgeshire Marriage index and found nothing but in Huntingdonshire marriage index Jane Harriet Swan married Robert White in 1834 in St Ives. Perhaps someone may have St Ives registers and can look up more details for you.

Tempsford.
