Census 1851 at Wooperton (page ref 2422-556-3 and next page 2422-557-4

This has James & Alis Fail with unmarried dtr Alis and grandson, 3 yr old James.

( I think previously I should have written Brandon, not Burton... it is so late, I think I have gone for a Burton ?

Thank you Michael,

I agree - it sounds right and it fits, and now I'll do some cross checking.

Have a good sleep... it's only early afternoon here in Australia! :)

Michael, do you have an age for the daughter Alis in either of theose census?

I have found a Family of Fail's on the IGI all children born in Branton with parents as James Fail and Alice McKenzie for 1818 - 1834. If this is the same family then I wondered where she would fit.

Is it possible to check on the 1841 census for that family?

Thank you again, and again, and again.

Then I think I will the Fail's alone for awhile

Fiona

Thanks for all that Pam.... I'll digest it all and see if any of it fits.

As for Richards death - I have him listed as 1 in the 1841 census but no record of him in 1851 census, both located in Spittal, N'land.

Hello Fiona

Searched for both Birth and Death for Richard Percy

No luck as yet with Death.

There is only one Birth Dec qtr 1840  Richard Facey Percy but wrong area its registered St Germans 9 91.  Think St Germans is Cornwell or Devon, so a long way from Northumberland/Durham area.  Unless you know of any connections with those Counties???

Hiya Pam, no ideas of any connections to those areas - all I know is what is recorded on the 1841 census...1 year old born Durham (Northumberland).

Thanks for the census find though - I'll see if it fits as a cousin perhaps.

Actually, whilst you are looking for Percy births.... do you think you could find my great grandmothers birth? I need to find her mothers maiden name and realised that I only have her marriage certificate which doesn't list it, and I'm struggling to find her death certificate here in Australia.

Her name is Mary Percy b. 1880, Northumberland (1881 census) and 1891 census lists Horton as birthplace. I haven't looked for her in the 1901 census but she didn't marry until 1904. Her parents names are James Percy and Sarah ???? and they had other children born from 1865 - 1881, Margaret, Elizabeth, Hannah, James and Sarah.

I have located a James Percy married 1863 but no place or page number is recognisable. Although I did then look for any Sarah's married in the same qtr and found 5. Two had similar problems with place and page transcriptions, Sarah Hughes and Sarah Sage.

So I looked for a birth of each of these Sarah's around 1840 in Tweedmouth as she has listed in the 1881 census and found that a Sarah Hughes was born 1841, Durham & c.... and Kenton in 1891 census, so I just need to verify it with some other document.

Let me know if it's too much of an ask.

Thank you,

Fiona
