Monkey's Blood for we hard cases in Bedlington Michael. Nash, nash!!

Billy died by 1945 so would have been selling ice cream earlier than that.  He apparently set up a grocer's shop around about William or Robert Street and his wife Francis worked either there and/or at the CO-OP at a later date.

For my own family I know that  three of the four Blyth children were baptised at the RC in Blyth - but not Cowpen - that I recall.  My mother and the other three children were baptised at St Bede's.  My grandparents lived at Dock Street when they were in Blyth.  You kindly pinpointed for me in an earlier posting.

I think my grandfather's cousin came to Cowpen first and then he followed in about 1923 but I've not been able to prove it yet.  He was a MIlls and would likely to have come to stay with his Mullarkey cousins who were living about there too.  In 1929 my grandfather was a stone picker in a coal mine but I don't know which one.

Billy Elliott, Billy Elliott - Doh!!!!!! he was Billy Murray not Elliott - that was a musical wasn't it.

JA,

I remember a Mullarky family in Bebside Colliery (either in Front Street, high even numbers and/or Bebside Furnace) We were rehoused from there to Weardale Avenue in about 1951.

Just to show off, our St Cuthbert's at Cowpen predates St Wilfred's Blyth, by about 20 yrs.

I have full list of St Cuthbert's confirmations, including Bedlington folk, before St Bede's did their own.
